Role Overview

GameChanger is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the video enablement team and oversee core video experiences for millions of youth sports games. This remote-first position suits a collaborative technical leader with a strong background in video streaming who enjoys supporting a high-performing engineering group. Working alongside the Director of Video Engineering and cross-functional partners, this role shapes the streaming roadmap, guides architecture principles, and helps scale reliable video pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with the Director of Video Engineering, product managers, and feature teams to execute the video streaming roadmap.
Lead the Video Enablement team through designing, building, and supporting mobile-first live streaming, capture, ingest, transcode, storage, and playback.
Continuously measure and improve live and VOD streaming experiences using user empathy and data.
Hire, onboard, and mentor mobile, backend, and infrastructure engineers while fostering a culture of ownership and craft.
Serve as a hands-on technical leader capable of reviewing code, contributing during complex tasks, and mentoring senior engineers.
Collaborate with infrastructure teams to maintain a resilient, scalable, and cost-efficient video pipeline in AWS.
Enable product feature teams and computer vision teams to build upon video infrastructure with clear interfaces and documentation.
Engage during production incidents, provide team support, and participate in blameless postmortems.

Requirements

Strong background in video and audio streaming with hands-on experience in user-generated content and live streaming technologies.
Leadership style rooted in collaboration, listening first, and influencing through ideas rather than authority.
Solid understanding of software engineering principles and cloud architecture within resilient and scalable video environments using AWS.
Ability to think strategically and contribute to the long-term vision of the engineering organization.
Comfort operating as a player-coach who remains close enough to technical work to be a credible resource.

Nice to Have

Experience coding in languages common in the video space such as Go, Rust, or C#.
Familiarity with Node, TypeScript, React, or mobile languages like Kotlin and Swift.

Salary and Benefits

Target salary range between $205,000 and $235,000 per year, determined by factors such as experience, location, and internal equity.
