Role Overview

Defense is hiring a full-time Senior Engineer, Automated Test in San Diego, California to build advanced automated testing and CI/CD infrastructure. This position suits an experienced engineering professional eager to shape high-assurance development environments for autonomous aircraft and robotics.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and scale advanced automated testing and CI/CD infrastructure for the next-generation autonomy platform.
Build test frameworks that empower the software ecosystem to create, test, and deploy resilient autonomy capabilities for unmanned systems in challenging environments.
Partner with teams across production flight code, simulation tooling, mission planning systems, Ground Control Station applications, and telemetry data pipelines.
Create automated test frameworks, continuous integration systems, and verification tooling covering onboard edge compute, APIs, and web interfaces.
Leverage AI-assisted engineering workflows and intelligent automation tools to improve testing, debugging, analytics, and developer productivity.

Requirements

Strong experience in Python-based automation, distributed systems testing, developer tooling, and modern CI/CD practices.
Demonstrated interest in autonomy, aerospace, robotics, or safety-critical software systems.
Ability to work closely with software, autonomy, simulation, and systems engineering teams in a mission-critical environment.

Nice to Have

Experience leveraging AI-assisted development and intelligent automation tools to accelerate testing and workflows.
