Role Overview

Back Market seeks a Senior Data Scientist to join the Bureau of Technology in Paris. Operating within a hybrid work model, the professional will focus on implementing optimization algorithms and machine learning models to improve platform fees and pricing strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement machine learning models and optimization algorithms to drive pricing intelligence.
Manage projects from initial problem definition and metrics design to data extraction, model implementation, and stakeholder presentations.
Work alongside data scientists and backend engineers to turn models into production-ready features.
Plan and analyze experiments to evaluate the effects of fee strategies and model updates.
Utilize statistical analyses to find actionable insights that guide business, product, and technology choices.
Explain technical work clearly to product, engineering, and business teams.

Requirements

At least 5 years of professional experience working as a data scientist.
Master's or PhD degree in a quantitative field such as Engineering, Economics, or Statistics.
Demonstrated history of contributing to data science projects that reached production and impacted live, customer-facing products.
Ability to navigate ambiguity and propose directions with imperfect data or undefined problems.
Solid understanding of machine learning and statistical concepts with the ability to deploy models in production.
Practical experience in designing and analyzing experiments.
Proficiency in Python and SQL alongside familiarity with software engineering practices like testing, deployment, and code reviews.
Clear communication skills suitable for diverse audiences, including senior management.
