Role Overview

Back Market seeks a marketplace economics expert in Paris to tackle major strategic questions concerning growth, competition, pricing, and inventory. The professional will use causal inference and advanced analytics to influence decisions across Supply and Pricing teams globally.

Key Responsibilities

Build causal inference models to evaluate marketplace policies, pricing initiatives, and supply drivers
Design and analyze experiments and quasi-experiments involving holdout groups, treatment effects, and cannibalisation analysis
Translate findings into actionable recommendations, decision tools, and guardrails for Revenue, Pricing, and Supply teams
Lead cross-functional projects alongside Supply, Pricing, Business, and Engineering units
Establish best practices for impact measurement, experimentation, and causal inference while mentoring other analysts
Communicate complex analysis clearly to senior stakeholders to influence commercial decisions

Requirements

Four to eight plus years of experience applying statistical methods and causal inference to business problems
Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python or R
Experience driving strategic decisions through cross-functional collaboration

Nice to Have

Background in digital marketplaces, e-commerce, or two-sided platforms
Track record of building analytics capabilities in growing organizations
Experience working with dbt and Tableau
