Role Overview

Two Six Technologies is hiring a Senior Data Scientist to work onsite in Arlington, Virginia, and surrounding areas. The position involves collaborating with subject matter experts, customers, and product teams to design data science solutions for US government and Fortune 50 clients. Candidates must be local to the DC Metro area and able to work up to 4 days per week at company offices or customer sites in Northern Virginia and Laurel, Maryland. An active Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility is required.

Key Responsibilities

Translate abstract customer needs into concrete data science and engineering solutions in collaboration with product teams and subject matter experts.
Build high-quality prototypes by experimenting with and evaluating potential technical solutions.
Manage projects covering statistical reasoning, modeling and simulation, and software development.
Apply machine learning, deep learning, network analysis, sampling methodologies, text analytics, and data visualization techniques.
Represent technical methodologies to both technical novices and experts.
Design and execute experiments to test data sampling and collection strategies.
Perform ad-hoc analyses and build prototype tools to support customer success and subject matter expert teams.
Support the installation, configuration, and maintenance of custom capabilities on customer systems.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
Five or more years of professional data science experience, or two or more years of experience with a PhD.
Three or more years of intermediate-level or higher experience with Python programming and machine learning.
Active Top Secret clearance with SCI Eligibility and the ability to obtain and maintain a polygraph.
Strong understanding of statistics, quantitative social science methods, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.

Nice to Have

A higher academic degree.
A polygraph in addition to the Top Secret clearance.
Direct customer support experience.
Experience with feature engineering, model training and evaluation, supervised and unsupervised machine learning, simulation, and anomaly detection.
Familiarity with version control, Agile methodology, and Jira.
Experience with generative and agentic AI tools and frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, Model Context Protocol, Agent2Agent Protocol, and LLM fine-tuning.
Deployment operations experience including Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Linux command line, cloud environments like AWS and Azure, and air-gapped networks.
