Senior Data Scientist - Demand Forecast (f/m/d)
About this role
Developing advanced AI models and deploying them into production forms the core of daily operations for the Demand and Assortment Planning team at Decathlon. Working within the supply chain department, the successful candidate focuses on optimising demand forecasting and assortment planning processes by studying historical sales data, market trends, and building statistical models.
Decathlon Digital operates with over 5,000 collaborators building scalable digital products across locations including Paris and Lille. What you will do
- Analyse historical sales data and market trends to forecast demand for retail products.
- Develop and implement advanced statistical models and machine learning algorithms for demand forecasting and assortment planning.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including supply chain business, engineering, and product development to align data and artificial intelligence efforts with business goals.
- Evaluate and improve existing forecasting models and methodologies to enhance accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Communicate insights and recommendations to stakeholders through clear data visualisations and presentations.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in data science and supply chain management.
What you need
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrate at least 5 years of professional experience in data science, statistical modelling, or related fields.
- Show proficiency in Python for data analysis and modeling.
- Possess strong knowledge of statistical analysis, forecasting techniques, time series, and machine learning.
- Bring experience with programming languages and frameworks such as Spark, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
- Have familiarity with database systems and querying languages like SQL and PySpark.
Nice to have
- Master's or Ph.D. degree in Data Science, Statistics, Operations Research, or a related field
- Experience in demand forecasting, inventory optimisation, or supply chain analytics
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools
- Previous experience in the retail or e-commerce industry
- Experience in implementing Generative AI to enhance forecasting
