Role Overview

VML is seeking a Senior Consultant to join its Business Services team in London to help enterprise clients navigate shifts in digital discovery and commercial models. Operating within a hybrid model with required client site travel, the individual will bridge diagnostic findings with commercial action while collaborating with creative, content, CX, and commerce execution teams.

Key Responsibilities

Own medium-scale projects end-to-end, managing scope, quality, delivery timelines, and client relationships.
Lead strategic recommendations across commerce transformation, AI discoverability, agentic commerce readiness, content strategy, and channel optimisation.
Translate ambiguous briefs into structured project plans with defined deliverables and resource requirements.
Design and facilitate workshops, stakeholder interviews, and co-creation sessions for mid-to-senior client contacts.
Identify account growth opportunities, contribute to proposals, and participate in pitch responses.
Coach and develop team members, potentially line-managing one to two staff members.

Requirements

Extensive professional experience with a strong track record in consulting, strategy, or senior commercial and digital roles.
Deep understanding of commerce ecosystems, including how trading, content, category management, channel strategy, and technology intersect.
Working knowledge of AI discoverability, generative product discovery, LLM-influenced discovery, and conversational commerce.
Proven ability to lead projects independently, managing scope, quality, and client expectations.
Strong strategic and analytical thinking to convert data-heavy assessments into commercially prioritised recommendations.
Excellent communication and executive presence with the ability to lead rooms and run workshops.

Nice to Have

Brand-side experience in eCommerce, digital marketing, or commercial leadership, including managing a P&L or leading a commerce team.
Sector experience in at least two of the following: CPG/FMCG, Consumer health, Automotive, Retail, or Telecom.
Change management or enablement experience helping organisations adopt new operating models.
Line management or mentoring experience.
Hands-on curiosity with AI tools, LLMs, agentic platforms, or commerce technology such as Shopify, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Commercetools, PIM, and DAM systems.
