Role Overview

Handshake is seeking a full-time Senior Cloud Engineer for the Agentic Infrastructure team based in San Francisco, CA. This role suits an experienced infrastructure specialist who wants to design and evolve modern cloud systems that empower engineering teams to build at scale.

Key Responsibilities

Architect, manage, and scale reliable cloud infrastructure across both development and production environments.
Create and enforce deployment best practices to help engineering groups ship code safely.
Build and maintain continuous integration and deployment pipelines using Buildkite and GitOps workflows via ArgoCD.
Oversee and advance Infrastructure as Code practices utilizing Terraform, Crossplane, or related tooling.
Drive platform enhancements that minimize operational toil and boost developer velocity.
Research and integrate AI-driven methods for infrastructure automation, system observability, and incident handling.
Collaborate alongside engineering groups to design cloud-native systems from the ground up.
Mentor fellow engineers throughout the organization regarding cloud patterns and best practices.

Requirements

Extensive hands-on production experience with GCP, alongside familiarity with AWS or Azure.
Strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Crossplane.
Proficiency in modern CI/CD platforms like Buildkite or GitHub Actions paired with a GitOps mindset using tools like ArgoCD.
Background in architecting container-based and Kubernetes-native environments.
Genuine interest in leveraging AI and automation to solve infrastructure challenges.
Exceptional communication abilities to convey architectural concepts to technical and executive audiences alike.
Collaborative mindset prioritizing documentation, standards, and shared ownership.

Nice to Have

Prior familiarity with FinOps principles and cloud cost management.
Background in platform engineering or enhancing developer experience.
Exposure to cloud security protocols, including IAM, SIEM, and scanning.
Experience working with service mesh technologies like Istio or Linkerd.
