About this role

Role Overview

The Senior Automation Specialist is a full-time, remote position based in Europe that focuses on automating non-engineering operational workflows at tem. This role suits an experienced automation professional with a background in building AI agents and integrating complex systems within a modern technical stack. Reporting to the Engine Ops Lead, the specialist partners directly with domain experts to replace manual tasks with robust, AI-driven automation.

Key Responsibilities

Design and maintain the reasoning layer for operational engines, routing and actioning tasks based on business logic rather than just moving data.
Build and test AI agents using Claude, Codex, or equivalent tooling, ensuring precision and safety valves before shipping.
Partner directly with Engine Leads across Payments & Debt, Tendering & Partner Activation, and other areas to translate manual procedures into automated workflows.
Connect internal platforms and third-party services using APIs, webhooks, and tools like n8n.
Build and maintain frontend applications in TypeScript using tem's AWS-native stack and GitHub deployment pipelines.
Own the entire delivery lifecycle from initial discovery through to production, ongoing monitoring, error response, and measurable hours reclaimed.

Requirements

Three to five years of experience in automation roles, featuring provable examples of code replacing manual operational work.
Strong experience integrating disparate systems and APIs in complex environments.
Deep familiarity with low-code automation platforms such as n8n alongside hands-on AI agent creation using Claude, Codex, or similar technologies.
Demonstrated ability to map messy human processes into clean architectures deployed within an engineering stack.
Established testing habits involving evals and manual QA, paired with a strong bias for shipping practical solutions.
Comfort collaborating with non-technical domain experts to extract process knowledge.

Nice to Have

Experience working within high-growth startups or operations-heavy sectors such as fintech, energy, logistics, or e-commerce.
Background experience in data engineering or business intelligence.
Active engagement with the broader AI tooling landscape to bring new techniques back to the team.
