Create stochastic, machine learning, or deep learning models to forecast day-ahead, ancillary, and real-time prices based on fundamental variables like load, gas prices, and generation.
Build and maintain gas dispatch, heat rate call option, toll, and structured pricing models while performing mark-to-market analysis and credit analytics.
Refine vendor models or develop in-house models for capacity expansion considering market policy, levelized cost of energy, retirements, transmission, and demand growth.
Benchmark models against actual operations and market outcomes to enhance forecast accuracy and optimization.
Build and enhance the internal quantitative modeling platform, create automated workflows, and build market data dashboards.
Design and maintain mark-to-market, value-at-risk, and profit-at-risk frameworks independently of the trading desks.
Conduct scenario, sensitivity, and stress-testing analyses to quantify tail risk within the portfolio.
Quantify hedge effectiveness and basis risk for structured transactions, power purchase agreements, and tolling arrangements.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field.
Minimum of three years of quantitative or modeling experience within the energy sector, including trading firms, banks, utilities, independent power producers, independent system operators, or battery storage companies.

Experience with linear or mixed-integer programming and associated tools.
Strong quantitative background with hands-on coding experience in Python.
Understanding of power market economics, wholesale market structure, and asset operations in independent system operator markets.
