Judi Health is hiring a Senior Applied AI/ML Scientist to help drive the creation of advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies for the healthcare sector. This hybrid position requires working three days a week from company offices located in New York City, Denver, Colorado, or the Charlotte, North Carolina area. Key Responsibilities

Research emerging large language models and multimodal language models to assess their accuracy and efficiency for specific healthcare use cases.
Build robust data pipelines and tools dedicated to machine learning training and customization.
Fine-tune language models specifically for the healthcare domain.
Design and deploy machine learning solutions that support document understanding, search, question answering, generative AI, and virtual agents.
Manage the entire machine learning model lifecycle, covering problem scoping, feature engineering, training, validation, and deployment.
Take part in quality assurance processes, code reviews, and the troubleshooting of AI models and backend integration issues.
Record architectural choices and development procedures while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for healthcare data security.

Requirements

Holds a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a closely related quantitative field.
Minimum of 4 years of professional industry experience focused on applied AI and machine learning research and development.
Strong expertise in object-oriented programming, design patterns, efficient algorithms, and software development practices.
Solid knowledge of machine learning principles, including deep neural networks, transformer-based models, decision trees, and retrieval-augmented generation.
Proficiency in Python alongside experience with machine learning libraries like PyTorch.
Direct background in training autoregressive language models, such as fine-tuning or reinforcement learning from human feedback.
Familiarity with open-source language model platforms and training stacks like HuggingFace and DeepSpeed, as well as cloud machine learning platforms including AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, and Databricks.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup setting while collaborating effectively across disciplines.

Nice to Have

A Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or Computer Science.
Prior professional experience working within the healthcare or life sciences industries.

Salary and Benefits

New York, New York salary range: $180,400 to $225,500 USD.
Denver, Colorado salary range: $165,600 to $207,000 USD.
Charlotte, North Carolina salary range: $150,400 to $188,000 USD.
