About this role

Based in the USA as a remote position, the Senior Analytics Engineer - Decision Intelligence role at Deepgram involves building the decision layer for the company's data ecosystem, making it well-suited for a senior technical individual contributor with deep analytics and AI experience.

Role Overview

Deepgram is hiring a Senior Analytics Engineer for a new decision intelligence team to design the semantic models, conformed entities, and agent-facing data tools sitting above the enterprise data warehouse. This role focuses purely on modeling, metrics ownership, and establishing a single source of truth for both human teams and AI agents, rather than building low-level ingestion pipelines. The engineer will operate within a fast-paced environment that requires an AI-first daily working practice and the ability to establish foundational processes from scratch.

Key Responsibilities

Design and model the gold layer, establishing conformed entities across customer, account, project, product, and contract data while resolving identity models spanning Salesforce, Stripe, billing systems, and the console.
Own the semantic layer by authoring single-source metrics definitions so that dashboards, notebooks, and agents return consistent numbers, while versioning and retiring older definitions.
Build the agent-facing surface, including permissions, tools, and MCP surfaces that allow analyst agents to safely navigate enterprise data.
Implement checkable correctness through automated assertions on data grain, uniqueness, and cross-system reconciliation, alongside evaluating agent outputs for accuracy, refusals, and error rates.
Address real business questions from finance, product, and sales teams by building durable models that simplify subsequent queries.

Requirements

Demonstrated AI-native daily working practice that alters how technical tasks are approached and executed.
Production-grade experience with SQL and Python for writing robust, instrumented code that ships reliably.
Prior ownership of a semantic or metrics layer using tools like dbt, Cube, LookML, or equivalent platforms.
Strong data modeling judgment focusing on grain, keys, and distinguishing data defects from undecided business definitions.
High comfort level operating within incomplete, work-in-progress infrastructure without a pre-existing ticket queue or rigid processes.
Strong written communication skills to author clear definitions and contracts that stakeholders and systems can trust.

Nice to Have

Experience with usage-based or consumption business models involving committed, consumed, invoiced, and recognized revenue.
Background working with real-time billing and consumption systems.
Familiarity with lakehouse architectures such as Iceberg, Athena, or Trino.
Documented contributions to open-source data or AI projects.
