About this role

The Senior All-Source Investigator position at TRM Labs is a remote, full-time role based in the United States within the R&D department. This individual-contributor position is ideal for an experienced investigator who wants to directly run high-impact cases tracing financial rails behind severe harms and exploitation.

Role Overview

The Senior All-Source Investigator joins the Severe Harms pod to trace the financial infrastructure behind sextortion and CSAM monetization. Working alongside law enforcement, government partners, and financial institutions, the investigator runs target packages from referral to disruption. This role focuses on combining on-chain and off-chain intelligence to identify offenders, disrupt illegal activity, and support victim identification. Candidates must be comfortable working with emotionally demanding, sensitive material while maintaining sound judgment and psychological well-being.

Key Responsibilities

Manage an independent caseload by running point on target packages from initial referral to disruption.
Conduct all-source collection by utilizing OSINT, link analysis, and direct engagement with subjects and sources to attribute actors.
Build defensible and actionable outputs, attribution write-ups, and legal-process returns that withstand scrutiny from law enforcement and courts.
Map entire threat networks rather than cataloging isolated indicators.
Integrate artificial intelligence tools to accelerate and sharpen casework while maintaining necessary human judgment.
Collaborate across legal, engineering, and external partner ecosystems on specific leads and referrals.
Follow victim-centered, trauma-informed investigative protocols along with strict guidelines for evidence handling, escalation, and mandatory reporting.
Manage personal content exposure and actively utilize team wellness and support resources.

Requirements

Possess 3 to 5 years of relevant investigative or casework experience in illicit finance, financial crime, cybercrime, trust and safety, all-source intelligence, OSINT, or direct human-source engagement.
Demonstrated capability in collection, whether through hands-on tool building for open web and forum sources or direct subject engagement.
Proven history of working cases collaboratively with others or executing clean handoffs without losing momentum.
Experience delivering results under tight time pressures and request-for-information deadlines.
Demonstrated interest, instinct, and resilience for working with child exploitation, serious organized crime, or sextortion material.
Required AI fluency with a clear understanding of how to apply artificial intelligence to accelerate and improve casework.
Working knowledge of legal processes such as subpoenas, warrants, and preservation requests, or a fast willingness to learn.
Solid written communication skills capable of producing defensible written packages under review.
Sound judgment and maturity when working with emotionally demanding and sensitive material.
Successful completion of an enhanced background check as a condition of employment.

Nice to Have

Prior cryptocurrency or on-chain investigative experience.
Direct familiarity with the sextortion or CSAM ecosystem, platform grooming patterns, or distribution networks.

Skills and Tools

All-source intelligence and OSINT collection
Link analysis and network mapping
Legal process documentation (subpoenas, warrants, preservation requests)
Artificial intelligence applications for workflow acceleration
Collaborative async tools including Slack and Notion
