About this role
To address fragmented logistics data and manual carrier monitoring bottlenecks, project44 needs an operational strategist and workflow architect to build and scale autonomous systems. The Prompt Engineer focuses on designing, governing, and maintaining AI agents that automate exception management, tracking, and escalation processes within the AIA Operations organisation.
Operating as a hands-on individual contributor, this person collaborates closely with engineering, product, and customer teams to translate operational requirements into reliable LLM workflows. Someone with a methodical approach to testing, a background in logistics technology or operations, and a strong curiosity for AI behavior will thrive in this environment.
What you will do
- Design and maintain AI agent workflows that automate carrier monitoring, exception management, and escalation tasks.
- Write, test, and optimise prompts for large language models to ensure operational efficiency and accuracy.
- Evaluate prompt performance through structured testing and maintain clear records of version histories and design decisions.
- Collaborate with engineering teams during handover and deployment to ensure proper workflow implementation at go-live.
- Monitor ongoing agent performance to identify drift, degradation, or failure modes and refine prompts accordingly.
- Partner directly with customers to translate operational goals into tailored AI agent workflows and success criteria.
What you need
- Bring three to four or more years of experience in logistics technology, transportation operations, carrier management, or network operations.
- Possess hands-on experience utilizing AI tools, automation platforms, or workflow-based technologies in operational settings.
- Demonstrate troubleshooting experience across APIs, EDI, data pipelines, and workflow orchestration.
- Apply strong analytical skills using data and monitoring dashboards to diagnose problems and measure outcomes.
- Communicate effectively to read product requirements and translate them into clear specifications for AI workflows.
- Show a methodical approach to testing prompts with an understanding of large language model behaviors and limitations.
