Photoroom is hiring a full-time Product ML Engineer to join their research and development team based in Paris with remote options available. This role is ideal for a pragmatic builder with over two years of experience who wants to deliver impactful machine learning features directly to users.

Role Overview

As a Product ML Engineer, you will embed directly within one of the product experience teams, focusing on short projects with high impact. Your main goal is to handle the machine learning aspects of product development, ensuring features reach production swiftly. You will operate on a short time horizon, measuring success by the actual value delivered to customers rather than extended research phases. You will collaborate closely with other machine learning experts while staying aligned with product priorities and user feedback.

Key Responsibilities

Embed directly with product teams to tackle specific machine learning challenges tied to clear business goals.
Drive machine learning initiatives from initial problem framing to production deployment and performance monitoring.
Decide whether to build and fine-tune proprietary models or integrate external APIs, libraries, and third-party tools.
Deliver features quickly through rapid iteration, focusing on execution cycles measured in weeks rather than quarters.
Monitor user behavior closely after release, utilizing customer insights to guide subsequent iterations.
Maintain production codebases directly within the product environment instead of relying solely on research notebooks.
Establish sound evaluation processes, track live performance, and resolve production issues.

Requirements

At least two years of hands-on experience building and deploying machine learning products.
Strong background in applied science, including experience fine-tuning diffusion or vision models.
Product-minded approach focused on real user behavior and shipped features.
Ability to write clean, maintainable code within a production codebase.
Strong ownership skills to guide ambiguous problems through to completion.
Fluent in English with a collaborative, curious, and humble mindset.

Nice to Have

Experience deploying generative image models or diffusion models into live environments.
Background in evaluating third-party artificial intelligence APIs against internal alternatives.
Prior experience working inside a fast-paced startup or embedded directly in a product team.
