Role Overview

Mirage is an AI-native video platform that orchestrates production and editing through natural language and contextual awareness. As the first experienced design leader at the company, this role involves establishing the vision and quality bar for design. The professional in this position will manage a growing team of designers, shape product strategy, and collaborate directly with executive, product, and engineering teams to turn ambitious concepts into reality.

Key Responsibilities

Establish the product design vision, strategy, and quality bar for the organization.
Lead, mentor, and foster the professional growth of product designers.
Shape the structure, capabilities, and culture of a world-class design team.
Collaborate with executive, product, and engineering leadership to define long-term product roadmaps.
Guide impactful product initiatives from exploratory phases through to final launch.
Cultivate a culture centered on craft, feedback, and user-centric decision-making.
Translate advanced generative artificial intelligence capabilities into intuitive interaction models spanning text, image, audio, motion, and video.

Requirements

Demonstrated history of building, leading, and mentoring high-performing product design teams.
Extensive background in designing and shipping complex consumer applications across mobile and desktop environments.
Exceptional product judgment and high design standards from initial concept to polished execution.
Ability to transition smoothly between strategic planning, people management, and detailed design reviews.
Comfort operating in ambiguous situations and making sound decisions with partial information.
Strong communication skills to align cross-functional teams and articulate design rationale.
A professional portfolio showcasing systems thinking, excellent craft, and shipped products.

Nice to Have

Background designing artificial intelligence-native solutions, creative software, or video, audio, image, and motion products.
Experience scaling a design organization within an early-stage or rapidly expanding company.
A defined perspective on human-computer interaction in the context of evolving artificial intelligence technology.

Prior experience as a startup founder or early design leader.
