Role Overview

Mistral AI is looking for a knowledgeable legal professional to champion its GDPR compliance initiatives while collaborating directly with engineering and product creators. The existing legal department consists of 15 members spread across Paris and Palo Alto, handling everything from intellectual property and regulatory matters to corporate and contract law. This position suits individuals who thrive in dynamic, fast-paced technological environments and want to shape compliance frameworks for advanced artificial intelligence solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the compliance framework by handling internal policies, data privacy impact assessments, and records of processing activities.
Process data subject requests and build scalable GDPR automation workflows.
Conduct employee education sessions focused on data privacy.
Review and negotiate data processing agreements with both clients and service vendors.
Keep track of evolving privacy rules, supervisory authority rulings, and guidance from regulators.
Guide the product group through feature development while addressing cross-functional privacy inquiries.

Requirements

Hold a Master of Laws degree, with bar admission serving as an advantageous extra qualification.
Bring five to ten years of professional background working in a technology enterprise or a law firm specializing in IT and privacy law.
Possess a solid grasp of European privacy regulations, European Data Protection Board guidelines, and national authority decisions.
Demonstrate familiarity and understanding regarding artificial intelligence applications and technologies.
Exhibit strong project management capabilities, problem-solving skills, and a solution-oriented mindset.
Maintain clear communication skills with the ability to explain intricate legal topics simply.
Display adaptability, independence, and an international perspective suited for a rapidly changing sector.
