About this role

Professionals who thrive on defining strategy and solving complex challenges in artificial intelligence safety will find this position rewarding. DigitalOcean is seeking a security leader to establish guardrails, manage threat exposure, and guide product teams on cloud-scale artificial intelligence initiatives.

Reporting directly to the leadership structure, this individual shapes multi-year security roadmaps, conducts adversarial testing, and acts as the internal authority on artificial intelligence risk. The group collaborates closely with data science and engineering units to ensure that customer-facing systems remain resilient against emerging threats.

What you will do

  • Collaborate with engineering leadership to integrate security controls into customer-facing artificial intelligence products.
  • Build and deploy in-house machine learning models, guardrails, and automated tooling alongside security data scientists.
  • Conduct adversarial testing and red teaming exercises including prompt-injection, evasion, and poisoning evaluations.
  • Perform threat modeling across the entire artificial intelligence lifecycle from data ingestion to post-deployment monitoring.
  • Own and drive the organizational artificial intelligence security strategy and multi-year risk roadmap.
  • Establish governance frameworks, policies, and standards for responsible development across the enterprise.
  • Communicate risk posture and program progress to executive leadership and the board of directors.

What you need

  • Ten or more years of background in cybersecurity with four to five years dedicated to artificial intelligence security or security data science.
  • Demonstrated history of defining and owning enterprise-level security programs rather than just executing tasks.
  • Deep practitioner-level knowledge of adversarial machine learning attacks and defense mechanisms.
  • Ability to synthesize academic security research and translate it into practical engineering guidelines.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and Go with experience building security tooling and automation.
  • Familiarity with industry frameworks such as OWASP LLM Top 10, MITRE ATLAS, and NIST AI RMF.

Benefits

  • Flexible time off policy
  • Reimbursement for relevant conferences, training, and education
  • Access to LinkedIn Learning courses
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Bonus eligibility based on company and individual performance
  • Equity compensation and Employee Stock Purchase Program
