About this role

Tenstorrent is hiring a Physical Design Methodology Engineer to develop and own the RTL-to-GDSII flows for AI hardware intellectual property. This hybrid position is available in Austin, Texas, Toronto, Ontario, or Belgrade, Serbia, and suits professionals with extensive CAD methodology experience.

Role Overview

The incoming engineer will create, deploy, and manage the RTL-to-GDSII methodology utilized by the IP physical design team. By establishing working flows prior to new block, node, or customer variant starts, this position ensures teams avoid cold starts. The role centers on building robust production flows, removing manual steps, and facilitating repeatable power, performance, and area exploration.

Key Responsibilities

Build, deploy, and own the RTL-to-GDSII methodology that the IP physical design team depends on for daily operations.
Establish robust flows for new blocks, technology nodes, or customer variants to ensure projects start efficiently.
Partner effectively with design teams and EDA vendors while documenting workflows thoroughly for independent use.
Stand up flows for new technology nodes, PDKs, and foundry targets ahead of program requirements.
Qualify new EDA tool releases and scale automation for advanced accelerators and high-performance CPUs.

Requirements

Bring five or more years of professional experience developing and supporting physical design methodology or CAD flows in production environments.
Demonstrate proficiency with industry-standard tools including FusionCompiler, ICC2, Innovus, Genus, PrimeTime, and RedHawk.
Possess a deep understanding of advanced node methodology, low-power intent through UPF or CPF, clock tree synthesis, and signoff procedures like EM/IR, DRC, and LVS.
Comply with U.S. export control regulations, as the position requires access to controlled technology and may require specific citizenship, permanent residency, or license approval.

Skills and Tools

Scripting languages: Python, Tcl, and Perl.
EDA Tools: FusionCompiler, ICC2, Innovus, Genus, PrimeTime, and RedHawk.
Methodology: Advanced node design, low-power intent (UPF/CPF), clock tree synthesis, and signoff (EM/IR, DRC/LVS).
