About this role

  • Coordinate with third-party payroll providers and reconcile payroll figures directly to the general ledger.
  • Design and document internal policies, controls, and self-service procedures that prepare the payroll function for future scale.
  • Implement measured AI and automation strategies to improve speed and accuracy within the payroll workflow.

What you need

  • Bring five to seven years of dedicated payroll experience, which includes hands-on ownership of processing at a high-growth company.
  • Demonstrate an extremely high level of discretion and ownership when handling confidential and time-sensitive materials.
  • Possess deep, practical knowledge of multi-state compliance requirements such as tax filings, wage rules, and year-end reporting.
  • Show hands-on familiarity with payroll systems and third-party platforms like Rippling, Gusto, ADP, or Workday.
  • Exhibit strong payroll accounting capabilities, including general ledger reconciliation and monthly close participation.
  • Display a demonstrated aptitude for applying AI and automation to enhance operational efficiency.
