Key Responsibilities

Own the reliability, scalability, and operational health of machine learning and artificial intelligence production systems across the organization.
Lead, hire, and mentor a team of ML and AI operations engineers through architectural decisions, design reviews, and shared best practices.
Partner closely with data science and engineering teams to streamline deployment pipelines, continuous integration, model packaging, and rollback strategies.
Establish organizational standards for model observability, automated retraining triggers, incident response playbooks, and service-level objectives.
Drive operational strategy for generative artificial intelligence systems while balancing innovation, safety, compliance, cost, and reliability.
Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, engineering, and legal stakeholders to translate business goals into measurable operational outcomes.
Manage vendor and platform relationships while making strategic build-versus-buy decisions.
Report on team health, system reliability metrics, and operational risks to senior engineering leadership.

Requirements

Seven or more years of hands-on experience building and shipping production machine learning systems with ownership of backend services and pipelines in high-availability environments.
One to three or more years of direct engineering management experience in an MLOps, infrastructure, or platform context.
Strong proficiency in Python and machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Scikit-learn.
Solid software engineering fundamentals covering testing, code review, continuous integration, application programming interface design, performance, and reliability.
Experience designing and operating real-time model serving at scale, containerization, scalable inference, feature retrieval, and safe rollout strategies.
Data engineering fluency with SQL, Spark, Databricks, and warehouse technologies like Snowflake.
Proven experience implementing machine learning monitoring for both technical and business metrics.
Ability to solve ambiguous problems, define clear success metrics, and communicate effectively across leadership, product, and data science teams.
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or a related technical field is preferred.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with generative artificial intelligence and large language model infrastructure, including latency, cost, and safety guardrails.

Salary and Benefits

The annual United States base salary range for this full-time position is $219,000 to $329,000, with potential geolocation differentials and variations based on skills, experience, and education.
