About this role

Managing the end-to-end accounting integrity of a rapidly expanding lease portfolio requires robust processes and deep technical expertise as infrastructure scales. The leasing team inside the corporate accounting department addresses this challenge by partnering across legal, operations, and treasury to evaluate complex contracts and ensure proper US GAAP treatment. This manager takes ownership of lease accounting under ASC 842, overseeing month-end close procedures, identifying embedded leases within network service agreements, and mentoring senior accounting professionals. Candidates who thrive in this environment possess substantial technical accounting experience, strong analytical communication skills, and an eagerness to build scalable controls from scratch within a fast-paced setting.

What you will do

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of senior accountants focused on lease accounting operations.
  • Oversee the identification and evaluation of embedded leases within Network Service Agreements and complex commercial contracts.
  • Direct and review all lease accounting processes under ASC 842, including initial recognition, remeasurement, and modification analysis.
  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities specifically for the lease portfolio.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet and P&L analytics while providing clear variance explanations to senior stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with Legal, FP&A, Operations, and Treasury on new lease transactions, contract amendments, and new structures.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives and build scalable controls to support a rapidly growing and complex portfolio.
  • Manage external auditor relationships on lease matters and prepare technical accounting memos.

What you need

  • Have at least 7 years of progressive accounting experience with a substantial focus on lease accounting or technical accounting.
  • Demonstrate deep working knowledge of ASC 842 and its application to complex contract structures.
  • Possess experience managing or mentoring accounting professionals.
  • Hold an active CPA or be actively pursuing CPA licensure.
  • Show a proven ability to identify embedded leases and apply appropriate accounting treatment to data center or colocation agreements.
  • Bring strong analytical and communication skills to present technical conclusions to senior leaders and auditors.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with ERP systems and lease accounting software such as CoStar or NetSuite.
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
