Role Overview

Tekion seeks an Engineering Manager to join the Bangalore HQ office. The professional in this role balances technical oversight with personnel management to build scalable automotive cloud systems.

Key Responsibilities

Direct and expand a group exceeding 10 engineers, handling recruitment, performance evaluations, and professional growth.
Oversee complete project lifecycles for platform modules from initial design to release and monitoring.
Participate in system design evaluations and maintain engineering benchmarks.
Collaborate with Product, Design, and QA partners to convert business needs into technical solutions.
Address performance constraints and technical debt before incidents happen.
Build a culture focused on ownership, code standards, testing, and operational discipline.
Produce code directly and assume accountability for assigned tasks.
Synchronize operations between US and India teams across time zones.
Coach software developers across all seniority tiers.

Requirements

Ten or more years of software engineering background, including at least 3 years in leadership overseeing teams of 7 or more developers.
Backend proficiency in Java and Spring Boot with capability in design reviews and code discussions.
Background designing and running distributed microservices and event-driven systems on AWS.
Familiarity with multi-database environments including MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Elasticsearch, and Redis.
Troubleshooting proficiency for production-scale performance issues.
Experience hiring senior engineering talent.
Communication skills for cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, and executives.
Experience delivering projects within SaaS environments.

Nice to Have

Background managing backend and frontend disciplines like React and Angular within one organization.
Experience in automotive retail technology, dealership workflows, or related fields.
Exposure to AI or machine learning platform development and LLM integration into production systems.
