Role Overview

Mistral AI is seeking a Legal Counsel, Banking / Financing for a full-time position based in Paris to handle crucial corporate finance operations and infrastructure investments. This role suits an experienced legal professional with a strong background in international law firms and complex financial transactions who wants to drive the growth of a leading artificial intelligence pioneer.

Key Responsibilities

Structure, draft, negotiate, and close non-dilutive financing transactions, including corporate loans, project finance deals, and asset-backed financings.
Act as the primary legal contact for banking and financial partners, utilizing both bespoke structures and LMA-standard documentation.
Advise directly on financing frameworks relating to data center investments and compute infrastructure projects.
Coordinate multi-jurisdictional transaction teams and manage external law firms handling cross-border structures.
Partner daily with treasury and FP&A finance professionals to align funding solutions with the corporate capital strategy.
Collaborate closely with M&A, compute, and business divisions to support deal-specific financing arrangements.
Create and maintain internal precedents, guidelines, and document templates for financing activities while supporting compliance and Sapin II matters.

Requirements

Hold a bachelor's degree or higher, such as an LLB, LLM, or Juris Doctor, from an accredited law school in France or another European Union country.
Bring a minimum of 7 years of relevant legal practice experience, which must include at least 4 years working within an international law firm.
Demonstrate a proven professional track record in structuring and negotiating non-dilutive financing deals like corporate loans and bridge facilities.
Possess required familiarity with LMA standard documentation alongside strong skills in navigating cross-border structuring questions.
Display excellent written and verbal communication skills in both French and English.

Nice to Have

Admission to practice law in at least one additional jurisdiction, particularly the United States.
Direct experience in infrastructure financing or project finance, especially involving long-term capital expenditures and data center infrastructure.
Previous international work experience or an international mindset.

Skills and Tools

Deep understanding of Artificial Intelligence technologies, including machine learning and natural language processing applications.
Strong negotiation abilities combined with sharp business acumen and financial tax awareness.
Analytical capability to evaluate cross-border legal risks and propose practical solutions in a fast-paced environment.
