Role Overview

The Lead Engineer takes technical ownership of complex products and systems while raising the engineering standards across the team. This position requires balancing architectural planning with direct execution, including writing code and debugging production issues.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the technical design and execution of major products, features, and engineering initiatives.
Design scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems across backend, frontend, APIs, databases, and infrastructure.
Stay hands-on with engineering through coding, prototyping, code reviews, debugging, and production problem-solving.
Make architecture decisions and technical trade-offs balancing speed, scalability, and reliability.
Break ambiguous product and technical problems into clear engineering solutions and execution plans.
Set high standards for code quality, system design, testing, security, observability, and production reliability.
Review technical designs and code from other engineers while providing actionable feedback.
Mentor team members to strengthen the technical capability across the organization.
Identify technical risks, bottlenecks, and architectural weaknesses early.
Collaborate closely with engineering, product, design, and AI teams to deliver quality products quickly.
Improve engineering tooling, development practices, and automation for higher velocity.
Own systems post-release by monitoring production, investigating incidents, and resolving root causes.

Requirements

Strong software engineering background with significant experience building and shipping production systems.
Deep technical expertise in backend, frontend, distributed systems, APIs, databases, or cloud infrastructure.
Strong system design and architecture skills for complex or high-scale systems.
Proven ability to maintain strong coding habits and remain hands-on.
Demonstrated experience leading major engineering projects and providing technical leadership.
Comfortable reviewing code, debugging complex issues, and handling production systems directly.
Clear communication skills to explain complex technical decisions across teams.
Strong product sense linking technical decisions to customer and business outcomes.
Ability to work quickly amidst ambiguity and take full ownership from conception to production.
Strong judgment on timing, simplification, and deep engineering investments.
