Role Overview

BJAK is hiring a Lead Engineer for an AI-Native Email App in Seoul, Korea. This is a hands-on leadership position requiring active coding, system design, and technical mentorship across distributed teams.

Key Responsibilities

Lead technical design and execution for major products, features, and engineering initiatives
Design scalable and reliable systems across backend, frontend, APIs, databases, and infrastructure
Write code, build prototypes, perform code reviews, and debug production problems
Make architecture decisions and balance scalability, speed, and maintainability
Transform ambiguous product problems into actionable engineering solutions
Establish high standards for testing, security, code quality, and system reliability
Review code and designs to provide constructive feedback to team members
Mentor engineers to strengthen overall technical capabilities
Detect technical risks and bottlenecks early
Collaborate with product, design, and AI teams to deliver products rapidly
Enhance engineering tooling, workflows, and automation
Monitor production systems, handle incidents, and improve long-term reliability

Requirements

Solid software engineering background with a track record of shipping production systems
Deep expertise in areas such as backend, frontend, databases, APIs, distributed systems, or cloud infrastructure
Demonstrated system design and architecture skills for complex or high-scale environments
Strong coding proficiency with a commitment to staying hands-on
Experience leading major technical projects or offering technical leadership
Ability to communicate complex technical choices clearly to cross-functional peers
Strong product sense linking technical choices to business outcomes
Comfort working through ambiguity and taking end-to-end ownership
