About this role

Professionals who thrive in ambiguous terrain, possess relentless curiosity for frontier learning, and demonstrate a bias for building will find a strong fit in this position. The Advanced Partnership Accelerator (APX) team within Accenture Federal Services builds rapid prototypes and deploys advanced artificial intelligence solutions to support defense, intelligence, and public health missions. As a Junior Forward Deployed Engineer, you will embed directly within federal client environments to translate complex problems into production-grade applications using modern AI frameworks, large language models, and enterprise data workflows.

This role exists because government agencies require agile technical partners who can move quickly from ambiguous requirements to working prototypes without traditional, slow development cycles. You will work across the entire technology stack to implement retrieval-augmented generation workflows, semantic search, and prompt engineering patterns while collaborating closely with senior team members. The position suits individuals who combine technical coding ability with strong communication skills and a mission-first mindset. Operating at the intersection of client delivery and software engineering, you will help federal organizations accelerate their adoption of frontier technologies from partners like OpenAI, Anthropic, Databricks, and Palantir.

What you will do

  • Embed within client environments as part of a forward deployed engineering team to build rapid prototypes using modern frameworks and coding assistants.
  • Support the integration of technical solutions into complex client environments, including legacy systems and regulated data contexts.
  • Work across the frontend, backend, APIs, and simple data pipelines to develop applications using structured and unstructured enterprise data.
  • Assist in evaluating model outputs, testing workflows, and applying responsible artificial intelligence guardrails.
  • Implement artificial intelligence solutions such as RAG workflows, semantic search, prompt engineering patterns, and simple agent behaviors.
  • Work alongside senior engineers to clarify problem statements and translate them into actionable technical plans.
  • Participate in rapid experimentation cycles and incorporate user feedback into updates while documenting solution decisions.
  • Share observations, user friction points, and reusable assets back to APX teams to improve overall delivery approaches.

What you need

  • Possess a Bachelor's Degree or demonstrated hands-on coding experience building and shipping software projects.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python, R, or Rust with knowledge of building production services.
  • Show familiarity with Generative AI tools like LLMs, chatbots, or AI-powered apps along with an eagerness to learn model output workflows.
  • Have exposure working with APIs, simple data flows, and managing structured and unstructured data while ensuring data quality.
  • Maintain the ability to travel based on client and team requirements.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and hold the ability to obtain a federal security clearance.

Nice to have

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Statistics, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with Palantir, Databricks, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google or other emerging technology platforms.
  • Prior client experience or collaborative technical work such as consulting internships, hackathons, or customer success engineering.
  • Exposure to cloud services like AWS, Azure, or GCP from coursework, certificates, or individual projects.
  • Active federal security clearance.
