Based in Eindhoven with a hybrid setup, this position is an internship for an ML Inference Performance Engineer focusing on evaluating and benchmarking machine learning systems. This role suits a student pursuing a degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field who wants to gain hands-on experience in hardware and software performance analysis.

Role Overview

The intern joins the team to analyze the performance of machine learning inference systems across the full software and hardware stack. Responsibilities include building repeatable evaluation methodologies, investigating performance bottlenecks, and creating tooling that transforms measurements into insights that guide product decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Build a deep understanding of internal benchmarking tools measuring latency, throughput, power, and accuracy, and maintain a performance visualization dashboard.
Research and evaluate third-party AI accelerator products using vendor SDKs and toolchains to track platform capabilities and limitations.
Characterize complete inference pipelines by capturing host-device transaction overhead and maintaining configuration consistency through frameworks like GStreamer.
Configure and maintain lab hosts across multiple hardware platforms while assisting with new hardware onboarding.
Compile findings into structured reports to support product engineering and roadmap planning.

Requirements

Enrollment in the final years of a Bachelor's degree or in a Master's degree program in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, with the option to complete a Master's thesis.
Practical development experience using Python and working knowledge of C and C++.
Familiarity with end-to-end computer vision pipelines and benchmarking concepts.
Experience working with inference SDKs, APIs, or tools such as TensorRT.
Understanding of deep learning models, ONNX, quantization, and PyTorch.
Experience utilizing agentic AI for development.
Proficiency with Git version control, Linux, Bash scripting, and Docker.
Familiarity with LLM benchmarking principles and hands-on exposure to embedded hosts.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English alongside solid organizational abilities.

Nice to Have

Understanding of GStreamer.
Experience with basic graphical user interface design.
