Role Overview

Mistral AI is looking for a Head of Financial Systems to shape the future of its finance technology ecosystem. This position involves collaborating closely with the Chief Financial Officer, internal Applied AI resources, and cross-functional departments such as HR, IT, Legal, and Security. The goal is to evaluate existing infrastructure, pinpoint gaps, and build a target architecture that supports the company's continuous growth. The impact of this role reaches across the organization by improving profitability, automating accounting processes, and guaranteeing dependable financial data.

Key Responsibilities

Evaluate the current finance technology environment, encompassing tools, workflows, data movements, and operational challenges.
Establish and rank business, functional, and technical specifications for finance systems alongside key stakeholders.
Formulate a target finance technology architecture detailing system functions, integrations, and data routing.
Build a comprehensive data governance framework covering data ownership, quality assurance, and ongoing maintenance.
Formulate and carry out a prioritized strategy to streamline and rationalize financial datasets.
Provide definitive recommendations for the future finance tech stack, detailing expenses, potential risks, and a migration path.
Prepare financial data for migration by resolving quality discrepancies and establishing clear ownership.

Requirements

Possess robust project management capabilities, covering vision creation, strategic planning, roadmaps, and execution.
Hold an academic background in engineering, ideally from a top-tier institution.
Demonstrate deep knowledge in data architecture, including data sources, pipelines, storage, transformation, and metadata management, coupled with practical design experience involving APIs, workflows, BigQuery, and DBT.
Act as a Generative AI power user with vibe coding expertise, automation knowledge, and a background in scaling professional products.
Bring experience in financial technology evaluations, system selections, and familiarity with enterprise platforms like SAP S/4HANA, Kyriba, Lago, and Payflows.
Possess solid financial understanding, including collaboration with finance teams on FP&A, accounting, cash management, and procurement.
Demonstrate builder and scaler experience in structuring IT systems, establishing IT departments from scratch, and working across multiple countries.
Show proven capability in building tools and processes independently to aid company expansion.
Exhibit strong analytical capabilities to assess data quality, relevance, and consistency.
Display advanced prioritization skills driven by performance metrics.
