Role Overview

As the Head of Engineering, you will direct daily operations of the technology organization, guiding technical strategy, team structures, process enhancements, and AI integration. You will report directly to the VP of Technology and collaborate closely with the Director of Product. During your first year, you will ensure core platform stability, mentor engineering managers and tech leads, and align technical priorities with business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain overall stability, reliability, and efficiency of core technology while ensuring the platform evolves iteratively.
Lead, mentor, and support a core of engineering managers and tech leads to foster accountability and technical ownership.
Improve engineering practices and documentation to facilitate quick team onboarding and smooth project rotation.
Partner with product and data stakeholders to translate business requirements into clear technical priorities.
Anticipate stability and scaling risks related to headcount or project shifts, preparing architecture accordingly.
Maintain high standards for code quality, security, and operational excellence without unnecessary team expansion.
Establish an environment for safe experimentation with new technologies and methodologies.
Drive AI adoption by setting culture, tooling, and behavior models for LLM usage across the organization.

Requirements

8+ years of engineering experience, including 2+ years in a senior leadership role such as Head of Engineering or VP of Engineering.
Demonstrated experience leading organizations of 40+ engineers as a manager of managers across multiple disciplines like backend, frontend, and mobile.
Strong hands-on software engineering background with the capability to make system design decisions across the stack.
Track record of scaling engineering teams in fast-paced startup or high-growth environments.
Background working in consumer-facing product companies within e-commerce, gaming, marketplace, or fintech sectors.
Extensive experience in people leadership, coaching engineering managers, developing talent, and managing performance.
Active user of AI and LLM tools with a proven history of driving adoption and understanding cost and quality trade-offs.
Experience managing stable, scalable platforms with a strong focus on reliability and incremental progress.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills for executive-level collaboration.
Comfortable navigating ambiguity without rigid long-term roadmaps.
Based in Lithuania or willing to travel regularly to the Kaunas headquarters, particularly during the first three months.
Business proficiency in spoken and written English.
