Full Stack Engineer, AI Prototyping
About this role
To address the need for rapidly testing customer experience concepts before larger investments are made, SeekWell is hiring a Full Stack Engineer for AI Prototyping at 1-800 Contacts in Draper, Utah. The CX Incubator team focuses on building realistic simulations and prototypes for mobile and web applications to shape the future of vision care.
In this hybrid role, you will work closely with a marketer and a designer to turn ambitious ideas into functional proof-of-concept solutions. You will also help develop a React and Next.js prototyping platform that allows non-technical partners to experiment with app experiences. This position suits a builder who thrives in ambiguity, values rapid experimentation, and wants to solve real customer problems using applied AI technologies rather than building final production code.
What you will do
- Translate customer problems and hypotheses into functional, testable prototypes across web and mobile experiences.
- Contribute to the development and evolution of the React and Next.js prototyping platform by building reusable components and integrations.
- Build AI-powered experiences utilizing LLMs, existing models, APIs, data sources, and modern web technologies.
- Research and evaluate AI capabilities to determine the correct technical approach for use cases like conversational AI, personalization, and recommendations.
- Independently figure out the technical approach needed to take loosely defined AI concepts and deliver a working proof of concept.
- Design realistic customer simulations that can undergo testing with both internal and external audiences.
- Use AI-native development workflows with tools like Cursor, Claude, and Copilot to move quickly from ideas to working simulations.
What you need
- Possess strong full-stack software engineering skills with deep frontend experience in React, Next.js, TypeScript, or similar technologies.
- Bring hands-on experience in building backend services, APIs, and integrations alongside applying existing AI technologies within applications.
- Demonstrate practical experience with applied AI technologies such as LLMs, recommendation engines, personalization, and conversational agents.
- Show a proven ability to independently take an ambiguous AI-powered concept, figure out how to build it, and deliver a functional proof of concept.
- Have familiarity with AI-native development tools including Cursor, Claude, Copilot, or similar technologies.
- Demonstrate strong product and design instincts along with comfort operating in environments with high ambiguity.
- Provide a portfolio, prototypes, or side projects that showcase curiosity, self-directed building, and an appreciation for great customer experiences.
