About this role

Role Overview

Novita AI is hiring a full-time Forward Deployed Engineer to join the sales department based in San Mateo. This position bridges the gap between engineering, customer success, and product to help builders integrate cloud-native AI infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate directly with clients to understand technical requirements, business goals, and AI product objectives.
Deploy and integrate platform products including model APIs, inference endpoints, dedicated model hosting, GPU cloud infrastructure, and agent sandbox environments.
Troubleshoot and debug production issues across distributed systems, APIs, networking, containers, and GPUs.
Build customer-specific solutions, proofs-of-concept, demos, and prototypes to guide projects into production.
Travel to customer locations when needed to work alongside client engineering teams.
Translate user feedback into product requirements and collaborate with internal engineering teams to enhance the platform.
Develop reusable automation, reference implementations, and tooling for future client deployments.

Requirements

Solid software engineering fundamentals.
Proficiency in Python alongside at least one additional programming language.
Demonstrated experience building or deploying cloud-native applications.
Familiarity with Linux, networking concepts, Docker, and Kubernetes.
Strong problem-solving and debugging capabilities in live production settings.
Excellent communication skills for direct customer interactions.
Capacity to thrive amid ambiguity and move fast in a startup environment.

Nice to Have

Background in AI and machine learning infrastructure, large language models, or inference systems.
Knowledge of distributed serving frameworks like Ray, vLLM, or SGLang.
Practical experience utilizing GPUs, CUDA, or large-scale compute environments.
Previous experience in customer-facing technical roles, solutions engineering, or developer relations.
Experience creating AI agents, coding agents, or sandboxed execution environments.
Prior startup experience or tenure as an early-stage engineer.
Professional working proficiency in Mandarin Chinese.
