Role Overview

Maincode operates an end-to-end Australian AI stack called Matilda and needs a senior technical representative in Melbourne. The professional in this position will work on-site with departments in the Justice and Community Safety portfolio. Responsibilities involve understanding complex data challenges and deploying tailored AI systems directly inside secure and classified environments.

Key Responsibilities

Embed with Victorian justice and emergency services clients to identify mission outcomes and translate vague requirements into technical plans.
Architect, fine-tune, assess, and launch systems utilizing the Matilda stack on on-premises and air-gapped infrastructure.
Manage complete project delivery, covering data pipelines, retrieval-augmented generation, MLOps, and government security hardening.
Communicate with technical personnel and executives alike, producing architecture documents and evaluation reports.
Relay field observations back to the core model training division to influence future stack iterations.

Requirements

Must possess an active AGSVA NV1 or higher security clearance and Australian citizenship for vetting purposes.
Extensive practical background in data science and machine learning engineering using Python, PyTorch, JAX, and Hugging Face.
Proven track record of launching machine learning solutions within secure government, intelligence, or defense settings.
Familiarity with the PSPF, ISM, VPDSF, and related data classification guidelines.
Capability to function independently with strong discretion inside client facilities.

Nice to Have

Background in State Law Enforcement, Public Safety, or Federal Intelligence agencies.
Practical knowledge of large language models, including fine-tuning, evaluation, and retrieval-augmented generation.
Acquaintance with geospatial analysis, entity resolution, graph analytics, or intelligence tradecraft tooling.
Technical pre-sales or solutions architecture background in the commercial sector.
