Role Overview

HavocAI seeks a technical manager to oversee the perception and machine learning department. This position involves both people leadership and technical guidance, ensuring that complex computer vision and robotics capabilities transition successfully from research environments into deployed operational systems.

Key Responsibilities

Direct and mentor a team of engineers specializing in perception, machine learning, sensor fusion, and software development.
Shape the roadmap, strategy, and execution timelines for the perception and machine learning department.
Collaborate with technical leads to establish system architecture for object tracking, detection, classification, segmentation, and sensor fusion.
Supervise pipelines covering data curation, model training, evaluation, and production deployment.
Coordinate cross-functional initiatives alongside autonomy, embedded systems, simulation, hardware, product, and field operations groups.
Handle recruitment, performance evaluations, onboarding, and ongoing professional development for team members.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or an allied technical discipline.
Minimum of seven years of engineering experience working in perception, machine learning, computer vision, robotics, autonomy, or sensor fusion.
Minimum of two years of direct experience managing engineering teams in technical environments.
Technical proficiency in modern perception systems, sensor fusion, tracking, and scene comprehension.
Background in transitioning machine learning capabilities from development phases through testing and real-world deployment.
United States citizenship along with the capability to acquire and maintain a security clearance.

Nice to Have

Advanced degree in a relevant technical field.
Prior background leading perception, machine learning, or autonomy departments.
Familiarity with robotics, defense tech, aerospace, or maritime autonomous systems.
Experience working with multimodal sensor hardware including cameras, radar, LiDAR, GPS/INS, and IMU.
Proficiency with PyTorch, TensorRT, ONNX, CUDA, MLflow, Docker, Kubernetes, or NVIDIA Jetson.
Experience utilizing simulation environments, synthetic data, and large perception datasets.
Active or previous security clearance.
