Role Overview

The Director, Performance Analytics at May Mobility is a remote leadership position that guides the team responsible for core performance key performance indicators across autonomous vehicle systems. This role suits an experienced analytics leader who can bridge the gap between research-grade machine learning and production transit systems.

Key Responsibilities

Set and own the performance analytics strategy across simulation and synthetic data, translating it into a 12 to 24 month roadmap.
Lead, grow, and develop a team of senior performance analysts, applied machine learning analysts, and front-line managers.
Partner directly with Engineering, Product, Safety, and Operations leaders to define release criteria, performance metrics, and operational design domain expansion gates.
Drive deep decomposition of any key performance indicator by geography, time, operational design domain element, or vehicle trend and anomaly detection.
Establish measurement and experimentation standards across the company, including before and after analyses for stack changes and statistical reporting on real-world incidents.
Lead team-wide quality activities such as design and code reviews to maintain high engineering rigor.
Track and trend the technical performance of the autonomy stack in the field, surfacing root causes and prioritizing fixes with engineering.
Represent performance analytics work externally through publications, conference talks, partner reviews, and recruiting.

Requirements

Eight or more years of industry experience in performance analytics, applied statistics, or data science.
At least four years of experience managing senior individual contributors and front-line managers.
Direct domain experience in autonomous vehicles or advanced driver-assistance systems, robotics, large-scale computer vision systems, safety and performance metrics, or statistical experimentation.
Demonstrated track record of leading a team of ten or more through a major delivery such as a production launch, major model rollout, or regulatory milestone.
Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Robotics, or a related quantitative field.
Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with working familiarity with statistical analysis and experimentation tooling.
Experience setting measurement and experimentation standards inside an engineering or product organization.

Nice to Have

Master degree or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
Prior experience at an autonomous vehicle, robotics, or hard-tech company that has deployed products to real customers.
Experience with simulation, synthetic data generation, sim-to-real transfer, or scenario-based evaluation for autonomous vehicles or robotics.
Familiarity with safety-case construction, operational design domain definition, or regulator engagement for autonomous systems.
Publications or conference contributions in top-tier machine learning, computer vision, or robotics venues such as NeurIPS, ICML, CVPR, ICRA, or RSS.
