Role Overview

Decagon is hiring a Director of Solutions Engineering to lead its growing pre-sales solutions engineering team in New York City. This full-time, in-office position combines technical expertise, enterprise engagement, and leadership to support complex corporate clients.

Key Responsibilities

Hire, mentor, and manage a team of Solutions Engineers to foster career development and technical guidance.
Establish and operationalize best practices for pre-sales solutioning, technical validation, and proof-of-concepts.
Collaborate with Sales leadership to align technical execution with go-to-market strategies and business goals.
Engage directly with enterprise prospects to guide discovery, solution design, and ROI validation.
Oversee the delivery of tailored demonstrations, prototypes, and solutions.
Partner with Product and Engineering to share customer insights for roadmap priorities.
Represent the company as an executive-level technical leader in client meetings, workshops, and events.
Define scalable processes to improve team efficiency and long-term growth.

Requirements

Minimum of 7 years of experience in pre-sales technical roles like Sales Engineer or Solutions Architect.
At least 3 years of experience managing or leading pre-sales and solutions engineering teams.
Demonstrated success working with large enterprise customers through complex buying cycles.
Technical proficiency regarding enterprise AI deployments, API integrations, and production system architectures.
Strong communication skills for engaging executives, business stakeholders, and technical teams.
Ability to work in fast-moving, high-growth environments with ambiguity.
Executive presence and consultative skills to build trust with senior leaders.

Nice to Have

Experience in generative AI pre-sales engineering or enterprise deployments.
Familiarity with developer tooling, SDKs, enterprise architecture design, and integration patterns.
Background in systems engineering or software engineering.
