About this role

You.com is focused on building the AI Search Infrastructure that supports modern AI systems. The company aims to establish a trusted knowledge layer that allows agents, applications, and enterprises to retrieve accurate, citation-backed information in real-time. This is achieved by combining proprietary vertical indexes with LLM-optimized retrieval systems to solve complex problems in search, large language models, and large-scale infrastructure.

This Developer Community Manager role is central to driving adoption and advocacy for You.com by fostering strong developer engagement. The individual will be responsible for creating meaningful reasons for developers to interact with You.com and with each other through various channels such as events, workshops, and online communities. The objective is to turn local relationships in San Francisco and New York into tangible product adoption and long-term affinity for the platform.

This position is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys being part of technical communities and understands that community success is measured by what is built and sustained, not just attendance. The successful candidate will act as a crucial bridge, connecting the developer community directly with the products being developed by the engineering teams.

What you will do

  • Own the developer community strategy and programming across San Francisco and New York City, ensuring a consistent presence in key AI ecosystems.
  • Build relationships with AI engineers, founders, researchers, and influential members of the local developer ecosystem.
  • Develop a regular schedule of high-quality community programming, including meetups, workshops, hackathons, and office hours.
  • Transform the SF and NYC hubs into destinations for the AI builder community by creating recurring opportunities for learning and connection.
  • Collaborate with DevRel and Product teams to create practical experiences that encourage developers to use You.com's APIs.
  • Identify and cultivate community champions who can serve as advocates, speakers, and long-term partners for the company.
  • Maintain an authentic presence in online communities such as X, LinkedIn, GitHub, and Discord.
  • Establish feedback loops to relay developer insights, friction points, and use cases back to the Product and Engineering teams.

What you need

  • Possesses experience in building or managing a developer, technical, startup, or AI community.
  • Requires strong existing relationships within the AI and developer ecosystem, particularly in San Francisco and/or New York.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to create events and programs that technical audiences choose to attend repeatedly.
  • Needs a solid understanding of how developers discover, evaluate, adopt, and advocate for developer tools and APIs.
  • Must be technically fluent enough to have credible discussions with engineers about APIs, LLMs, and AI application development.
  • Should be comfortable engaging hands-on with developer products to discuss them authentically.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary for engaging developers without using traditional marketing language.
  • Experience collaborating across DevRel, Product, Marketing, and Sales teams is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with specific AI/ML platforms
  • Experience with open-source projects

Benefits
