About this role
Data silos and ambiguous business metrics often obscure how user acquisition, engagement, and monetization actually drive growth at scale. TextNow needs a business-minded Data Scientist to turn messy, large-scale usage data into rigorous analyses, predictive models, and experiments that directly shape product and marketing decisions.
Working across product, engineering, finance, and trust and safety teams, the person in this role will own investigations end to end. Responsibilities include framing open-ended questions, uncovering trends behind user behavior, building forecasting models, and keeping the network safe from fraud. Candidates who succeed here combine strong technical chops in Python and SQL with sound judgment and the ability to translate complex statistical findings into actionable recommendations for leadership.

- Examine large and complex datasets to uncover behavioral trends driving user growth, retention, engagement, and revenue.
- Develop and evaluate predictive models, segmentations, causal inference techniques, and forecasting methods.
- Design, analyze, and interpret A/B tests and quasi-experiments to inform strategic product and marketing moves.
- Establish meaningful metrics, KPIs, and dashboards that teams across the company rely on for performance tracking.
- Communicate complex technical findings clearly to both technical peers and senior leadership.
- Collaborate with data engineering to ensure reliable data pipelines, tracking, and reusable analytical tooling.

- Prior experience utilizing BI or product analytics tools like Tableau, Looker, or Mixpanel.
- A formal degree in statistics, economics, mathematics, computer science, engineering, or another quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
