About this role

Solace is seeking a Data Scientist for a full-time position located in the United States. This role is ideal for a statistical professional with startup experience who wants to build predictive engines and forecasting models in the healthcare sector.

Role Overview

Solace is hiring a Data Scientist to report directly to the VP of Data. The professional in this position will focus on forecasting, prediction, and machine learning to anticipate patient needs and optimize operations. The role involves moving beyond descriptive analytics to build predictive engines, model patient risk, and design rigorous A/B tests within a rapidly scaling startup environment.

Key Responsibilities

Build and refine machine learning models to solve critical business problems, such as predicting patient churn, estimating operational volume, or scoring advocate quality.
Own the development of time-series forecasts to guide capacity planning and resource allocation with higher accuracy.
Lead the design and analysis of A/B tests and causal inference studies to measure the true impact of product and operational changes.
Apply advanced statistical methods to complex datasets to uncover patterns that simple reporting might miss.
Collaborate with Data Engineers to take models from local notebooks to production environments for reliable execution.
Translate complex statistical findings into clear, actionable narratives for non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

Strong background in statistics, probability, and mathematics including hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and time-series forecasting.
Fluency in Python and its data science ecosystem such as pandas, scikit-learn, statsmodels, and NumPy.
Hands-on experience with time-series analysis and forecasting techniques like ARIMA, Prophet, and exponential smoothing.
Advanced SQL skills to write complex queries and wrangle data from Snowflake independently.
Familiarity with best practices for handling PHI, PII, and protecting patient data privacy.
Comfort with ambiguity, startup dynamics, taking ownership, and wearing many hats.
Base location within the United States.

Nice to Have

Master's degree or PhD in Data Science, Applied Science, or related fields.
Experience deploying and monitoring models in production using tools like Docker, Airflow, or MLflow.
Background working with healthcare or insurance claims data.
Experience applying Natural Language Processing techniques to unstructured text data.
Experience designing matching algorithms or ranking systems for two-sided marketplaces.
Comfort reading or writing dbt models.
