About this role

Managing the general ledger, vendor contract review, the close calendar, and the internal control environment forms the core daily routine for this role. Baseten builds inference infrastructure for artificial intelligence companies, and the corporate accounting team must establish strong financial reporting rigor as entity structures, transaction volumes, and contract complexities grow rapidly.

Operating as a hands-on individual contributor, the person in this role will take full ownership of the core accounting function. Candidates who enjoy working on a lean team with a builder mentality and a bias toward execution will find significant scope for impact here.

What you will do

  • Manage the execution of general ledger journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly financial statement preparation.
  • Drive the month-end and year-end close processes while setting the calendar and collaborating with cross-functional partners.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and perform flux analysis for leadership review.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams and external auditors to maintain internal controls and audit readiness.
  • Administer accounting systems such as NetSuite and spend management platforms to automate manual workflows.
  • Collaborate with FP&A, Legal, and Procurement regarding the accounting implications of new entities, contracts, and programs.

What you need

  • Bring five or more years of progressive accounting experience with at least three years specifically focused on corporate accounting, general ledger, and close management.
  • Demonstrate a deep working knowledge of US GAAP across core areas including accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, debt, and leases.
  • Possess hands-on experience owning account reconciliations and preparing monthly financial statements.
  • Show direct experience owning the close calendar rather than only contributing to a close run by others.
  • Have public company or audit-ready private company experience through Big 4 or industry backgrounds.
  • Work from San Francisco or New York with the ability to be in person three or more days per week.

Nice to have

  • Experience at a high-growth, venture-backed infrastructure or cloud company
  • Experience supporting multi-entity or international consolidations
  • Integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact
  • CPA
  • Exposure to SOX or SOX-readiness controls work

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation, including meaningful equity
  • 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance for employee and dependents
  • Flexible PTO policy including company wide Winter Break
