About this role

The Content Marketing Lead role at Oyster is a remote position based in the EMEA region, tailored for an autonomous individual contributor who wants to shape global editorial narratives using modern systems. This opportunity suits an experienced storytelling professional ready to build an AI-native content function without direct reports.

Role Overview

Oyster is seeking a Content Marketing Lead to set the company-wide direction for its editorial narrative. In this high-impact individual contributor role, the focus is on creating the category story for the future of work, guiding executive public arguments, and turning proprietary employment data into influential research. You will operate as an AI-first functional lead, leveraging custom systems, research agents, and brand-voice models while collaborating with senior stakeholders, freelancers, agencies, and subject matter experts.

Key Responsibilities

Define Oyster’s long-term editorial and category strategy across marketing, executive leadership, product, people, legal, and customer-facing teams.
Architect and govern reusable AI systems for research, brand voice, fact-checking, source verification, repurposing, evaluation, and reporting.
Set the operating model for executive publishing, advising leaders on public arguments and establishing durable original-research programs using proprietary employment data.
Connect editorial decisions directly to company growth, customer trust, target-account engagement, earned influence, and pipeline.
Set direction for senior stakeholders, freelancers, agencies, specialists, and subject matter experts without relying on formal authority.
Establish decision rights, operating rhythms, and shared standards that allow multiple teams to execute consistently.

Requirements

8+ years of experience in content, editorial, or brand journalism, including senior ownership of a brand narrative or thought leadership program at a B2B technology company.
Evidence of setting a company or category narrative that changed decisions, earned external authority, and saw adoption across teams.
A portfolio of work that earned attention on merit through citations, quotations, debate, or organic sharing.
Demonstrated AI-first practice extending beyond drafting into agents, custom workflows, evaluation, QA, governance, and adoption by others.
Exceptional English-language editorial judgment, writing, editing, sourcing, and voice control.
Ability to turn proprietary data and complex research into clear, defensible arguments with business relevance.
Experience making high-leverage trade-offs and setting direction across executives and multiple functions without formal authority.
Proven ability to build scalable mechanisms, operating standards, and roadmaps that enable others to deliver consistently.
Genuine motivation to operate as a high-autonomy individual contributor with no direct reports and company-critical scope.
Reliable home internet connection and fluency in both written and spoken English.

Nice to Have

Domain background in HR tech, global employment, future of work, fintech, or another compliance-heavy category.
Experience with AI search visibility, optimizing for how assistants retrieve, summarize, and cite sources.
Multimedia range encompassing video, podcast, or design fluency.
Experience standing up an in-house newsroom or an original research program.
Personal background working or living across multiple markets, or speaking more than one language.

Skills and Tools

AI systems and governance design, including research agents and brand-voice models.
