About this role

Professionals who thrive on maintaining high situational awareness and noticing subtle telemetry discrepancies before anyone else will find a strong fit in this monitoring role. The Global Data Center Operations team functions as the backbone of the infrastructure, safeguarding uptime, stability, and reliability across a global hyperscale environment. As a Command Center Technician, the individual acts as the central point of visibility by conducting remote rounds, monitoring critical electrical and mechanical assets, and coordinating rapid incident response from an on-site workstation.

Operating within a 24/7/365 setting, the team relies on telemetry tools like BMS, EPMS, and DCIM to track data center health and dispatch on-site personnel during events. Success in this position requires a calm demeanor under pressure, strict adherence to established procedures, and a talent for technical documentation and incident logging. Candidates who bring foundational technical knowledge of data center systems and a readiness to handle permanent night shifts will excel in supporting the core cloud platform.

What you will do

  • Conduct scheduled remote health checks across electrical, mechanical, and life safety systems during each shift to maintain continuous reliability.
  • Monitor global infrastructure using building management systems, power management platforms, and operational dashboards.
  • Identify anomalies, early-warning signatures, and telemetry deviations before they escalate into larger incidents.
  • Triage incoming infrastructure alarms and execute standard operating procedures, methods of procedure, and emergency procedures.
  • Coordinate cross-functional incident response and dispatch on-site technicians or vendors while providing clear status updates.
  • Contribute to root cause analysis by compiling detailed timelines, logs, and historical alarm data.
  • Perform technical writing for the change management program, including event narratives and shift documentation.

What you need

  • Possess at least two years of experience working in mission-critical environments such as data centers, utilities, or industrial operations.
  • Demonstrate foundational technical knowledge regarding data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure systems.
  • Show proven experience following and executing standard operating procedures and emergency procedures in high-availability settings.
  • Maintain proficiency with monitoring tools, ticketing systems, and operational dashboards.
  • Display the ability and willingness to work a permanent 12.5-hour night shift on a fixed two-week rotating pattern that includes weekends and holidays.
  • Exhibit strong written communication skills to maintain accurate operational records and event logs.

Nice to have

  • Four or more years of experience working in mission-critical environments
  • Prior experience in a hyperscale or large-scale data center environment
  • Hands-on technical background in electrical or mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with specific BMS, EPMS, and DCIM platforms
  • Relevant technical certifications in data center operations, trades, or facilities training
