About this role
Professionals who thrive at the intersection of strategic planning and hands-on execution will find a natural home on the Capacity Strategy and Operations team at Baseten. The group builds the operational foundation that powers inference for dynamic artificial intelligence companies by transforming a complex hardware market into reliable infrastructure for customers and internal engineering teams. Daily work involves owning the end-to-end capacity planning lifecycle, translating customer commitments into supply requirements, and running cross-functional efforts when deployment risks arise. Success in the position requires the ability to model capacity scenarios in spreadsheets, manage stakeholder alignment under pressure, and build repeatable processes for a rapidly scaling environment.
Operating within San Francisco, the team coordinates closely across Sales, SRE, Finance, and vendor relationships to handle hardware constraints and resource allocation. Candidates who possess high ownership, strong quantitative abilities, and comfort with ambiguity excel by designing frameworks that keep supply ahead of demand. Baseten offers competitive compensation alongside comprehensive benefits to support team members through every stage of growth.
What you will do
- Manage the complete capacity planning workflow from initial intake through prioritization, fulfillment tracking, and post-mortem analysis.
- Convert customer commitments, sales pipelines, and infrastructure targets into precise GPU demand forecasts across timelines and regions.
- Collaborate alongside Finance to simulate capacity scenarios, assess supply opportunities, and inform capital expenditure decisions.
- Engage directly with the Capacity Acquisition group to synchronize supply procurement with projected demand and highlight potential risks early.
- Facilitate cross-functional alignment between Sales, SRE, and Infrastructure departments to resolve resource conflicts and safeguard customer agreements.
- Establish operational rhythms that eliminate ad-hoc communication channels and maintain visibility over capacity planning.
- Design reporting dashboards that provide leadership with real-time insights regarding capacity health, utilization metrics, and risk exposure.
- Pinpoint operational inefficiencies within the capacity lifecycle and implement improvements that minimize manual effort and enhance reliability.
What you need
- Bring five or more years of professional experience working in strategy, operations, consulting, finance, or related analytical fields.
- Demonstrate a proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder processes involving competing priorities.
- Exemplify strong quantitative and modeling capabilities with proficiency in building demand forecasts and scenario analyses from the ground up.
- Possess exceptional communication skills capable of transforming ambiguous scenarios into actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
- Maintain a high ownership mindset focused on identifying broken processes, creating solutions, and seeing them through to completion.
- Perform effectively under pressure within fast-paced environments where formal playbooks have not yet been established.
