About this role

Double Good is seeking a Business Intelligence Manager to lead the data consumption layer and direct a team of analysts and engineers in Chicago. This hybrid position suits a data professional with leadership experience who can drive strategic reporting, metric certification, and AI-ready analytics for a high-growth technology and fundraising company.

Role Overview

As the Business Intelligence Manager, the individual leads the BI team toward a primary goal: ensuring business users access certified Looker dashboards and AI-generated summaries at the start of every week. Reporting to the VP of Data & Analytics, this player-coach role combines strategic roadmap planning, team mentorship, and hands-on technical execution using SQL and Looker. The manager partners directly with leaders across Product, Operations, Finance, Marketing, and Sales to translate complex data into actionable insights and unified metrics.

Key Responsibilities

Design and execute a prioritized quarterly BI roadmap aligned with core business impacts.
Lead, mentor, and foster the professional growth of a team of 2 to 3 BI Analysts and Analytics Engineers.
Own the complete BI lifecycle, including intake, requirement gathering, and the delivery of production-grade dashboards.
Establish semantic layer requirements, ensuring consistent metric definitions, dimensions, and thorough acceptance testing before sign-off.
Champion rigorous data governance by enforcing single metric definitions, designated owners, and clear documentation.
Drive business adoption of Looker through user training, Explores, metric certification, and the retirement of uncertified content.
Prepare data ecosystems for artificial intelligence by setting naming and context standards so large language models can reliably read certified metrics.
Collaborate with functional leaders to transform complex business questions into clear, written recommendations.

Requirements

Minimum of five years of professional experience in business intelligence, analytics, or analytics engineering, including the ownership of a KPI framework and reporting ecosystem used by senior leaders.
At least two years of management experience overseeing analysts or analytics engineers with direct responsibility for employee development.
Deep practical expertise in Looker, building and governing certified dashboards with sufficient LookML fluency to review Explores and write precise specifications.
Expert-level SQL capabilities alongside working knowledge of dbt and modern cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Databricks.
Proven track record of creating robust metric definitions and data quality standards that scale across multiple teams.
Demonstrated capability to influence cross-functional stakeholders up to the executive level through strong written and verbal communication.
Comfort navigating a fast-paced and ambiguous environment.
Bachelor's degree in business analytics, computer science, information systems, statistics, economics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Current authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Nice to Have

Background working in a direct-to-consumer e-commerce or consumer packaged goods company.
Hands-on experience delivering AI-generated summaries or natural language querying on governed BI data using tools like Claude with Looker and Snowflake.
Experience constructing self-service analytics platforms or supplying BI outputs for planning, forecasting, finance close, or experimentation platforms.
Prior hands-on development experience with dbt, LookML, Python, and Git workflows.
Knowledge of growth and lifecycle analytics, A/B testing, and experimentation frameworks.
Literacy in finance and operations metrics such as contribution margin, COGS, revenue recognition, unit cost, and forecast accuracy.
Professional certifications in Looker, dbt, CDMP, or CBIP.
