About this role
DoorDash Labs builds robotics and automation solutions to transform last-mile logistics across robot and compute platforms. The Autonomy Platform team focuses on developing foundational software, runtime services, and tooling that enable autonomy engineers to bring up new hardware and deploy services reliably.
Team members design core runtime and middleware, improve process orchestration, and build system observability and diagnostics. Practitioners with strong production C++ and Python skills alongside experience with embedded Linux, robotics, or complex mechanronic systems tend to succeed in this environment.
What you will do
- Build and maintain core runtime, middleware, and platform services utilized by autonomy applications.
- Enable new compute, camera, lidar, and other sensor platforms.
- Improve process orchestration, messaging, configuration, resource isolation, and fault recovery.
- Develop system observability, tracing, performance measurement, diagnostics, and regression-detection capabilities.
- Build reliable data capture, replay, and debugging workflows.
- Create provisioning, packaging, deployment, integration-test, and platform-readiness tooling.
- Lead complex debugging across application, middleware, OS, driver, networking, timing, and hardware boundaries.
What you need
- Demonstrate strong production C++ and Python experience.
- Bring experience with embedded Linux, robotics, autonomous vehicles, or complex mechanronic systems.
- Possess a solid understanding of operating systems, concurrency, networking, middleware, drivers, GPU acceleration, storage, or real-time performance.
- Have experience debugging complex problems across multiple software and hardware layers.
- Show familiarity with profiling, tracing, observability, automated testing, and CI.
- Demonstrate familiarity with Bazel, Git, and modern software-development practices.
Nice to have
- ROS/ROS2 or comparable robotics middleware experience
- Experience collaborating in multi-disciplinary teams spanning software, controls, and hardware
