Role Overview

Wayve is hiring an Applied Scientist or Machine Learning Engineer for its Enrichment and Curation team in Sunnyvale, California. The role focuses on transforming fleet-scale driving data into high-quality training datasets, enrichments, and evaluation benchmarks for foundation models and end-to-end AI drivers.

Key Responsibilities

Build scalable methods to discover rare, safety-critical, and high-value scenarios within fleet data.
Apply embeddings, active learning, similarity search, model-assisted mining, and smart sampling to enhance dataset coverage.
Design automated pipelines for data-quality monitoring, deduplication, labelling, and enrichment.
Conduct experiments to determine optimal data mixtures and curation strategies for improving model performance.
Collaborate with simulation, foundation-model, infrastructure, and evaluation teams to transition concepts into production.
Create benchmarks and slice analyses that identify model blind spots and direct future modelling and data iterations.

Requirements

Strong software-engineering and machine-learning fundamentals capable of bringing applied research into production.
Proficiency in Python alongside a modern deep-learning framework, paired with comfort using SQL or large-scale data tools.
Practical background in foundation models, data curation, computer vision, large-scale data wrangling, or model evaluation.
Ability to reason regarding class imbalance, sampling, label quality, experimental design, and dataset coverage.
Comfort with ambiguous, cross-functional problems alongside clear communication of technical trade-offs.

Nice to Have

Experience with autonomous driving, robotics, vision-language models, active learning, similarity search, Spark, or distributed training.

The salary range is $311,850 to $419,760 with multiple ranges.
