Role Overview

The Android Software Engineer takes full ownership of the Android client experience for ACTAI's mobile applications in Germany. This position focuses on creating production-grade software where artificial intelligence interactions form the core of the product. The professional joining this team will ensure that performance, reliability, and clarity remain top priorities while building applications that bring intelligence to everyday tasks with minimal prompting.

Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain production Android applications using Kotlin.
Integrate artificial intelligence features such as chat, vision, voice, and recommendations through backend APIs.
Design user experience patterns for AI interactions that include streaming responses, retries, and partial results.
Optimize performance, memory usage, and responsiveness specifically for AI-heavy workflows.
Implement analytics, logging, and feedback capture to support AI evaluation and iteration.
Collaborate closely with backend and machine learning engineers regarding API contracts and system behavior.
Ensure stability, security, and scalability of the application in production environments.

Requirements

Three or more years of Android development experience using Kotlin.
Practical experience integrating artificial intelligence features like language models, vision, and speech APIs.
Solid understanding of asynchronous programming using Coroutines and Flow.
Familiarity with REST or gRPC application programming interfaces and structured data formats.
Strong debugging and performance profiling capabilities.
Comfort building within environments that feature latency, partial failure, and non-deterministic behavior.
Experience with MLKit or light on-device inference.
History of publishing production applications on the Google Play Store.

Nice to Have

Java programming familiarity.
SQL and noSQL database experience.
TensorFlow Lite for on-device inference.
