About this role

Federal agencies need help turning theoretical artificial intelligence frameworks into operational capabilities that can be safely deployed and audited at scale. Accenture Federal Services is hiring an AI Strategy & Governance Leader in Washington, DC to shape enterprise architecture, governance, and responsible AI policies for confidential government programs. This role bridges strategy, building, and operations, requiring close partnership with chief technology officers, security offices, legal teams, and product groups to define standards and implement reliable controls.

The person in this position will focus on production strategy rather than model training, ensuring that advanced machine learning platforms remain secure, effective, and compliant with strict federal guidelines. Candidates who thrive in this environment possess a strong background in government data strategy, enterprise architecture, and multi-stakeholder management, and they enjoy translating complex technical concepts into clear operational roadmaps.

What you will do

  • Translate high-level mission goals into comprehensive portfolio roadmaps, target architectures, and adoption plans while selecting appropriate architectural patterns for each use case.
  • Define reference architectures across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments that respect Zero Trust principles and strict privacy constraints.
  • Operationalize policy-as-code frameworks, approval workflows, audit trails, and model lifecycle controls aligned with federal standards.
  • Establish evaluation harnesses for quality, safety, latency, and cost alongside model selection criteria and prompt management guardrails.
  • Author reusable playbooks, templates, and governance blueprints that scale across multiple mission teams to drive consistency.
  • Partner with product, security, compliance, and engineering units to facilitate executive decision forums and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Ensure programs meet strict service-level objectives, pass audits, and achieve progressive delivery in regulated environments.
  • Contribute to proposals, internal capability building, and mentor teams on responsible artificial intelligence practices.

What you need

  • Demonstrated experience developing artificial intelligence or data strategy, or platform governance within government or multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Strong understanding of federal policies related to data, artificial intelligence, privacy, cybersecurity, and digital modernization.
  • Expertise in enterprise architecture concepts and governance frameworks.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to non-technical audiences.
  • A demonstrated track record of turning strategy into operational systems with measurable outcomes.
  • Experience assessing technical readiness, risks, and ethical considerations.
  • Must be a United States citizen.

Nice to have

  • Experience in regulated or secure environments including audit-ready controls, Authority to Operate processes, and Zero Trust concepts.
  • Exposure to large language model evaluation frameworks, retrieval-augmented generation patterns, and policy-based filtering.
  • Familiarity with leading platforms and services such as Azure, AWS, GCP, Databricks, Snowflake, Palantir, and vector search tooling.
  • Contributions to standards playbooks, open-source projects, executive-level storytelling, and proposal leadership.
