Role Overview

As an AI Scientist at Mistral AI in Zurich, the successful candidate will advance the organization's mission to democratize frontier intelligence. The professional will design, build, and deploy high-impact models that support reasoning, code, and multimodal applications. This position involves working alongside an international, cross-functional team to integrate artificial intelligence successfully into enterprise operations and daily life.

Key Responsibilities

Research and build innovative methods to advance the capabilities of large language models.
Focus on diverse use cases, including reasoning, code, and autonomous agents, across text, image, and speech modalities.
Create robust infrastructure and tooling necessary for training, evaluating, and analyzing artificial intelligence models at scale.
Partner collaboratively with fellow scientists, engineers, and product professionals to launch impactful real-world systems.

Requirements

High proficiency in at least one major programming language, such as Python, Rust, Java, or similar alternatives.
Practical, hands-on experience utilizing artificial intelligence frameworks like PyTorch, or distributed systems such as Kubernetes.
Strong engineering competence capable of designing complex software solutions and bringing them into production environments.
Demonstrated ability to act as an autonomous, self-starting team player.

Nice to Have

Practical background in distributed training for large transformer models.
Familiarity with navigating the complete MLOps stack, covering fine-tuning, evaluation, and deployment.
An established publication record within a relevant scientific field.
