Role Overview

As an AI Resident, the chosen candidate will work alongside full-time team members on live projects including simulation infrastructure, data management, model evaluation, and capability deployment. Rather than building toy demos, participants contribute meaningfully to the systems that make the flagship home robot, NEO, smarter. The charter focuses on accelerating artificial intelligence development by translating advanced literature into practical capabilities that ship to real robots.

Key Responsibilities

Apply research-level ideas to production impact, turning techniques from artificial intelligence and robotics literature into deployed capabilities.
Build or enhance data engine components, such as front-end tooling for log review and labeling, back-end data cleaning systems, and evaluation benchmarks.
Scale solutions using fleet data by contributing to pipelines that improve continuously with robot experience.
Deploy at least one new capability or infrastructure improvement to robots at customer sites prior to the conclusion of the residency term.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical background, with graduate students in Machine Learning or robotics strongly preferred.
Proficiency working with large Python codebases, writing tests, and utilizing deep learning frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
Demonstrated ability to independently and rapidly prototype ideas, supported by a portfolio of projects, research, or open-source work.
Experience training large-scale machine learning models, including visual foundation models, large language models, or generative models, or a history of publishing at top artificial intelligence conferences.
Fast, independent learning capabilities with a strong prototype-to-production instinct and collaborative mindset.

Nice to Have

Experience working with systems programming and scalable data infrastructure.
Familiarity with robotics simulation platforms such as Isaac Sim or MuJoCo, or robot middleware like ROS.
Prior engineering or research experience bridging artificial intelligence and physical systems.
